Winners of 2025 RELAC Scholarship Announced

RELAC celebrated its 2024 scholarship recipients at the recent gala Recognition Luncheon held in Whittier.

“These students are our future leaders, and RELAC sponsors a scholarship program to provide some assistance on their education journey,” said Brian Berger, President. Five, $1,000 scholarships were awarded this year, he said.

The financial aid program was established in 2019. It is open to RELAC members and their families. Students are nominated by a RELAC family member. For more information on the program, send an e-mail to [email protected] or visit the website, www.relac.org.

Scholarship award winners were selected based on academic achievement, volunteer community service and work experience. They are:

Ainsley Gharman and grandfather Donald Handley, sponsor.

Ainsley E. Gharman, granddaughter of Donald L. Handley, is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a Girl Scouts Ambassador and youth board member of the Neighborhood Council. She has an interest in international relations and will attend American University in Washington, D.C.

Molly Grace Melia

Molly Grace Melia and grandfather Edward G. Melia, sponsor.

Molly Grace Melia, granddaughter of Edward Gerard Melia, is a member of the National Honor Society and an academic tutor. The aspiring, future business owner will attend UCLA.

Robert McKinnon Olson

Robert McKinnon Olson and Helen Olson.

Robert Olson McKinnon, grandson of Robert Olson (deceased), is an AP Scholar and recipient of a Rotary Club Leadership award. He has conducted food, clothing and book drives in the community. A problem solver with a fascination for patterns, designs and physical elements in mathematics and chemistry, McKinnon will attend the University of California at Irvine.

Bryauna Hill

Bryauna Hill and grandmother Inetta Naulls, sponsor.

Bryauna Hill, granddaughter of Inetta Naulls, was on the Principal’s Honor Roll, and volunteered at the MLK Orthopedics Outpatient Department. With a goal of becoming a surgeon, she will attend the University of California at Berkeley.

William Raymond

William Raymond,
sponsored by Laura Wills.

William Raymond, nominated by Laura Wills, was on the Honor Roll and participated in an elementary school tutoring program on Saturdays. He plans to pursue a career in computer engineering and will attend California State University at Long Beach.
